Subcommittees

Communications

The subcommittee is responsible for preparing and distributing content for all of DCLMN’s communications channels, including our Facebook page, website, email marketing, and media relations. We also assist other DCLMN committees and subcommittees with their communication needs. For example, we prepare promotional materials for and help publicize our annual Spring Dinner, and we support the committee's GOTV efforts. We invite people with an interest in writing, social media, and communications strategy to get involved.

Voter Registration

This subcommittee is responsible for mailings, and in-person or phone contact, to unregistered voters in Lower Merion and Narberth. This includes the preparation of mailings to new resident homeowners. The committee often works with other groups to set up voter registration tables at supermarkets or at community events. Outreach to renters is a challenge that needs to be addressed. The committee also identifies groups that may need absentee ballots (e.g, students and seniors) and prepares mailings targeting them with applications. The committee then follows up with phone calls or in person contact to get the voters to send in their applications, and then later their ballots.

Issues and Policies

The subcommittee is responsible for investigating and reporting to the Committee on issues of public concern, and assisting the Committee in developing policy positions on such issues. During odd-year elections, the committee develops and administers the forums where candidates appear before the body to discuss positions and answer questions prior to a vote for endorsement. The committee is also working with Fundraising on a speaker series.

Fundraising

Zeke Tayler
This subcommittee is tasked with raising the funds to fuel the work of the Committee, and to support our local Democratic candidates. The committee is responsible for such events as our Spring Dinner, the premier fundraiser of the year. DCLMN plans to promote new events, and also will launch a capital campaign to fund other new initiatives of the Committee.

Technology

The tech chair’s responsibilities include maintaining the DCLMN website and Zoom account, running the A/V and Zoom operations for in-person, Zoom, and hybrid General and Executive meetings, and helping manage Zoom webinars for online forums. The role also includes coordinating with the Communications Committee to provide technical support for social media accounts, newsletter lists, and email sends, as well as assisting in any area where the committee may need technical support.

Campaign Support and Coordination

This subcommittee is responsible for providing assistance to the campaigns of Democratic candidates for elective office and for coordinating the campaign efforts of the candidates in Lower Merion and Narberth. Canvassing door-to-door, dissemination of literature and signs, and other Get-Out-the-Vote (GOTV) efforts fall under the committee, as well as driving vote by mail initiatives. Petition training, dissemination and review also falls under this committee.
